BACKGROUND
-Mercedes-Benz, founded in 1926, is a division of Daimler AG, a German company known for its luxurious vehicles, coaches, buses, and lorries. Headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, the company’s history dates back 1886 with Karl Benz’s “Benz Patent-Motorwagen,” considered the first gasoline-powered automobile. The Mercedes-Benz Learning Academy, previously known as the Mercedes-Benz Technical Training Centre, was formed to develop local skills and artisans in the Eastern Cape province, the first fully integrated non-racial institution in the industry.COVERAGE AND SELECTION- The bursary will cover tuition fees, textbooks and digital allowances, accommodation or transport, and a stipend. Bursary recipients may have the opportunity for vacation work at Mercedes-Benz Pretoria (Menlyn) Maine) during holidays. After graduation, recipients may join the MBSA Graduate Development programme. Bursaries will be awarded for studies in various fields such as Business Studies, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Development, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Law, Legal and Compliance, and Supply Chain/Logistics.REQUIREMENTS-Applicants must meet minimum entry criteria:South African citizenship (foreign nationals may apply with a work visa/ permits as per Immigration Act 13, 2002)Currently in Matric (in 2023) or completed Matric Studying or enrolled full-time in one of the specified fields in 2024 at a recognized and accredited South African UniversityMinimum overall average of 65% for Matric and most recent semester results if currently studying-Not an employee of Mercedes-Benz South Africa Group of Companies Preference given to first and second year students Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply (per Mercedes-Benz South Africa Employment Equity Act)
